We're excited to announce Trace4EO – an ESA Φ-lab-funded project revolutionizing Earth Observation (EO) data management.

What is Trace4EO?

Trace4EO (“Disruptive Technologies for Provenance of EO Data”) is an initiative creating an open-source prototype for EO data provenance, tested in real-life scenarios.

Why It Matters

Addressing the rapid EO data growth, Trace4EO showcases disruptive technologies to unlock data potential and improve transparency, reliability, and reusability of EO datasets.

Who’s Behind It

The project is led by a consortium of European innovators:

  • Guardtime (Estonia): Global leader in data integrity and provenance technologies.
  • CloudFerro (Poland): Provider of cloud infrastructure for EO platforms.
  • Alt239 (France): Experts in EO and metadata management.

When It Starts

The project officially began on June 16, 2025.

Why It’s Important

  • Disruptive Technologies: Identifying innovative solutions for EO data challenges.
  • Open-Source Prototype: Ensuring transparency and community access.
  • User Engagement: Building a strong community for long-term development.
