We are thrilled to share that Trace4EO, the ESA Φ-lab funded project, has just reached its first key milestone.

What happened?

  • The consortium has successfully defined the service requirements for the Trace4EO system.
  • Two major deliverables have been completed:
    • Study Report – outlining the selection of disruptive technologies to support EO data traceability.
    • Use Case Report – highlighting carefully chosen EO use cases where the system will be piloted.

Why it matters?

This achievement marks the transition from the exploration phase into full-scale development. With requirements set and use cases defined, we can now start building the Trace4EO system – an open-source solution for EO data traceability that ensures transparency, trust, and reliability in Earth Observation.

Who’s behind it?

Trace4EO is driven by Guardtime (Estonia), CloudFerro (Poland), and Alt239 (France), combining expertise in blockchain, cloud computing, and metadata management.

What’s next?

We are now moving forward at full speed to turn this vision into reality and deliver a system that strengthens the future of EO data provenance.
